Karma Triyana Dharmachakra (KTD)
Karma Triyana Dharmachakra (KTD) is the North American seat of the Gyalwang Karmapas of the 900-year-old Karma Kagyu lineage of Tibetan Buddhism, which is a guide to millions of Buddhists around the world. The present Karmapa is the 17th Gyalwang Karmapa, Ogyen Trinley Dorje. Currently 32 years old, the Karmapa resides in his temporary home at Gyuto Monastery in India after making a dramatic escape from Tibet in the year 2000.
KTD is beautifully situated in the northern Catskill Mountains above Woodstock, New York. Founded in 1976 by His Holiness the 16th Karmapa, KTD offers traditional teachings, practice retreats, and contemporary programs. The English translation of the name is Karmapa’s Dharma Wheel of the Three Vehicles, which represent the three paths to enlightenment.
